February cut flowers
Everything has its natural season, which is when the weather and length of daylight hours combine to produce the perfect environment for growing and flowering. The British outdoor-grown, cut flower season begins in February marked by the delicate hues of Hellebores and a range of Narcissus varieties. Catkins and pussy willow are used to give structure in arrangements this month and Mimosa, Daphne, Witchazel, Wintersweet and Camellia are all flowering in abundance. Foliages are evergreens such as hebe, pittosporum and numerous varieties of eucalyptus.
When grown in polytunnels for warmth, spring flowering bulbs can be available earlier in the season so British tulips, anemones and sometimes ranunculus are often available this month too. Click here to find out why we love British Flowers so much.
